Exploring Inner Realms Of Human 'Truths'

Dear Reader,

I am excited about our upcoming webinar on Consciousness-Centred Knowledge Systems on Wednesday, 26 February. After more rounds of discussion with Matthijs and further researching the subject, I do believe it will offer a perspective that many of us would find interesting, affirming or validating. It did all three for me! So here’s a trailer.

Ever since the time of Galileo, the learning and advances in the sciences and in technology has been exponential. Our predominant ways of accumulating knowledge today acknowledge the scientific method, that has made so much progress in the ways of studying and understanding the physical world through observations made directly or indirectly through the senses. So great are the achievements in this domain that we assume this to be the only trustworthy form of learning, in the process either denying, ignoring or not-recognising other forms of learning and knowledge that we actually continue to use.

But science is rapidly coming to realise that it is not quite so successful in the realm of measuring many things human like love, happiness and empathy. The inner realms of human ‘truths’, have been explored way before ‘science’ took centre-stage (and we must remember how hard science had to fight to do so) and by using different knowledge systems. More and more frequently scientists, psychologists and philosophers alike are recognizing that there needs to be a way to let these different knowledge systems come together and learn from each other rather than be held in exclusion, in the process negating the other.

Our speaker on the webinar Matthijs Cornelissen will introduce us to four such knowledge systems that have been articulated by Sri Aurobindo. The scientific way of gathering knowledge is one.

What may we gain from this understanding? How may we benefit by these different knowledge systems? What would happen if we could make rapid progress in the inner realms of human existence, as we already do, in fields like physics and the data-sciences? In this session we'll see why this is needed, how it could be achieved, and how doing so would affect society in all spheres of life.

I look forward to seeing you there.

Warm regards,

Mahesh
