Staying Resilient in an Age of Disruption

Dear Reader,

Welcome to 2026! As we closed out 2025, we had come to terms with a VUCA world as the new constant. And if the unprecedented global events of the first few weeks of 2026 are a sign, then disruption is now the background music of our lives.

At its core, disruption is simply change that arrives before we feel ready. Research on resistance to AI adoption in organisations has shown that the underlying fears are the loss of autonomy, the erosion of familiar roles, the fear that hard-earned competence may no longer be enough. We typically respond to these fears by staying true to our identities and holding on to our assumptions about how things “should” work. This can be exhausting, especially when our strategies have minimal impact on the change tsunami headed our way.

There is a story that speaks to this challenge – A Samurai warrior went to a Zen master and said, "The world feels unstable. Everything keeps changing. Teach me how to protect myself from this storm." The master handed him a small oil lamp and said, "Light this and walk with me." That night, the wind rose. The flame flickered wildly. The warrior cupped his hand around the lamp. The harder, he tried to protect the flame, the more it shook. Oil spilled. And suddenly the flame went out. Distressed, the warrior cried out, "My light is gone." The master calmly struck a match and relit the lamp. Then he said, "You thought the light was the flame. The flame will always be fragile." He paused. "The light is your capacity to relight the lamp." And then he added, "Change is the wind. You cannot control it. Do not confuse resilience with control."

Cultivating resilience is an inside job. It is about building our inner capacities that can help us light our lamps repeatedly. Resilience begins when we stop asking, “How do I control the impact of this disruption on me?” and start asking “How do I evolve through this disruption?”

Warm Regards,

UPCOMING EVENTS

Disruption exposes a hard truth: titles give you authority, but they don’t give you capacity. In this session, we’ll look at what it means to lead without control by strengthening personal power—an internally sourced, portable form of power that doesn’t depend on certainty, position, or conditions being stable. Drawing on the Power Intelligence® model, we’ll explore how leaders can stay effective, grounded, and influential even when much of what they’re responsible for is outside their control.

Join us online for a conversation with Julie Diamond, Founder & CEO of Diamond Leadership, especially relevant for leaders navigating ambiguity, pressure, and constant change. The session invites participants to reflect on how they currently use power—where it drains them and where it sustains them. The focus remains practical, human, and immediately applicable to real leadership moments.

Date : 10th March (Tuesday), 2026

Time : 6:30pm - 8:00pm IST

According to a 2023 Gartner survey, 79% of corporate strategists indicate that the use of AI tools and analytics would be critical to their success over the next two years. But only 20% of them reported using AI in their daily activities.

This pattern has been found to be typical when any new process or initiative is introduced in organisations – the technology gets introduced; employees are trained but the adoption does not match expectations. Employees quickly return to familiar processes. This response is often misread as resistance to change. Several studies have now reported that people do not resist change, they resist change being imposed on them.

In this masterclass, participants will:
  1.  Develop an understanding of the psychology of change
  2.  Recognise how people’s responses to change are influenced by their MBTI® type
  3.  Learn strategies they can use to respond to change in a positive and constructive manner

Identifying leadership potential remains one of the hardest and most consequential decisions organisations make. Intuition, visibility, and legacy criteria often shape who gets developed—leaving capability unevenly recognised and difficult to defend. In this masterclass, we’ll explore a more evidence-based way to spot and grow leadership potential at scale.

Using the Leadership Potential Dashboard from the Saville suite of assessments as a lens, the session will unpack how leaders and talent teams can reduce bias, widen access to development, and make clearer, fairer decisions about who to invest in and why.

Join us for a practical conversation focused on interpreting signals, understanding patterns across talent pools, and translating insight into meaningful development conversations. The emphasis is on clarity, consistency, and better leadership outcomes.
