Growing Your Leadership Mind — A Conversation With Deborah Helsing

Dear Reader,

A frequent leadership development mandate we have observed in organisations is to support leaders in developing the capacity to engage with the growing complexities of their environments  - in other words, to grow their leadership mind.

But what does ‘growing the leadership mind' really look like? What ‘develops’ in leader development?

To answer these questions, we turned to Deborah Helsing who introduced us to Dr. Robert Keegan’s constructive – developmental theory which offers profound insights on how leaders change and grow.

Deborah has agreed to speak at the next Re-Think webinar on December 10, 2025 titled Growing Minds at Work : Putting the 'Development' in Professional Development where she will be introducing us to the tools and methods they have created to support the Leader Development process.

Deborah teaches at the Harvard Graduate School for Education and is a Director of Minds at Work where she coaches, consults and provides training on the Immunity to Change approach. She designs leadership development programs and learning experiences that are “deliberately developmental,” going beyond technical or informational approaches to engage transformational or adaptive learning and change.

Do register for this webinar that promises to provide answers to some foundational questions that most of us in the Leader Development space would like to have answers to.

Warm regards,

Janaki Venkat
